Fix CapCut Subtitles — Blinking, Overlapping or Out of Sync

Why CapCut captions blink

00:12:03,120 --> 00:12:05,040
so the next thing we tried

00:12:05,080 --> 00:12:07,400
was moving the whole setup outside

Overlaps after editing captions

Splitting, merging or retiming captions in the editor can leave one caption running into the next. Both then show at once, stacked or cut off depending on the player. The repair trims the earlier caption to end when the next one starts, as long as it stays readable; overlaps that can't be trimmed safely are listed with the reason.

Out of sync after fixing words and re-importing

A reported trap: you export the SRT, correct the words in another app, re-import it, and the timing is off. When correcting words, change only the text lines: an edited or reformatted timing line moves that caption. Check the file here first: if timing is consistent but everything is early or late, or drifts further as the video goes on, the Subtitle Delay Fixer can line it back up from one or two lines you can hear.

Getting captions out of and back into CapCut

To export, choose Caption Export (not Video Export) in CapCut's export dialog and pick SRT. Only captions CapCut generated with auto captions can be exported; text you typed in yourself can't. To import on desktop, use Captions → Add Captions and choose the .srt file; CapCut on the web takes SRT from its Captions tab. CapCut recommends UTF-8 without a byte-order mark, which is how the repaired file is saved on this page. According to CapCut's help, the mobile app can export captions but can't import an SRT; import on desktop or web instead. Menus change between versions, so check CapCut's help if yours look different.
