Can I export CapCut captions as an SRT file?
CapCut does not natively export captions as a standalone SRT file. To get an SRT from your CapCut video: export the video from CapCut without burned-in captions, then upload the video file to VideoText. VideoText re-generates the subtitle file from the audio and outputs SRT, VTT, or plain text.
How do I get a SRT file from a CapCut project?
In CapCut, export your video as MP4 (without captions embedded). Then upload the MP4 to VideoText. The AI transcribes the audio and produces an SRT file with accurate timestamps that you can download and use anywhere.
Why would I want an SRT file instead of CapCut's built-in captions?
CapCut captions are burned into the video when exported — you can't edit them after export, and they can't be turned off by viewers. A standalone SRT file lets platforms (YouTube, Vimeo) display captions as a separate track that viewers can toggle on or off, and lets you edit or translate the captions independently.
Can I use VideoText SRT files back in CapCut?
CapCut does not currently support importing external SRT files as caption tracks. The SRT file from VideoText is best used for platform uploads (YouTube, Vimeo) or for burning captions with VideoText's burn-in tool if you want more control over the caption style.
Is this free?
Yes. VideoText has a free tier with 3 uploads per day. No credit card required.
